Works Review

Strong work:
I thought a really strong work was Andrew's confession of his fear of the dark. I think it was so strong because he put all of us in the situation of being in pitch black, with the sounds that surround us during a camping trip gone wrong. It was pretty powerful to listen to the sounds of the night along with the bears, sirens, and child crying. Guessing Andrew's confession was hard at first, but when he explained it all made sense. Immersing the rest of the class in his experience instead of telling us about it is what made Andrew's confession strong.

A weaker piece:

I think Jonathon's piece about lying was a really good confession. It takes a lot for a liar to admit they are lying, and its an even bigger deal that he gave us three minutes for us to find out the truth from him. The only reason it turned out a little weaker than anticipated its because people asked questions about meaningless things like how many times he has been in a fight and other topics like that. I think that we as people are so little given the opportunity to find the direct truth from others that we were not sure what to ask. Not to mention that we can't even really be sure that he was telling the truth, which I think adds to the irony of the entire piece. I think Jonathon did an excellent job, but that the questions we asked could have been better.
